Fall is a staple season for many different reasons. Some say it’s because of the re-emergence of pumpkin-spiced… well, everything. Some welcome the changing of the leaves, some the anticipation of the holidays. One of the best ways you can celebrate Fall is by visiting one of Minnesota’s picturesque wineries. We’ve highlighted a few of our favorites below:

Cannon River Winery—Cannon Falls, Minnesota

There is much more to enjoy at Cannon River Winery than just the historic building, limestone wall, and rustic decor. Cannon River hosts tours, picnics, and musical performances every weekend. Although it is open year-round, be sure to check out the post-harvest party on October 28th.

Carlos Creek Winery — Alexandria, Minnesota

Open year-round, Carlos Creek Winery was recently voted Minnesota’s best Winery in a customer poll by WCCO TV. And plans are already in place for the 2017 Grape Stomp taking place next September. With daily costume contests and themes, you aren’t going to want to miss this entertaining weekend!

Glacial Ridge Winery—Spicer, Minnesota

Since 2007, Glacial Ridge Winery has been home to many award-winning wines. But more than just wine, Glacial Ridge also has a beautiful apple orchard, complete with over 800 trees, offering 9 different varieties of apple for eating, cooking, pies, and more!

Millner Heritage Winery & Cidery—Kimball, Minnesota

Just seven miles south of Kimball is Millner Heritage Winery & Cidery. This family founded and owned winery boasts some impressive wine-making equipment combined with old-school barrel practices. With live music every weekend, tastings and tours, it’s a great local winery and cidery and a must-visit.

Northern Vineyards Winery—Stillwater, Minnesota

You may have heard of Saint Croix Vineyards located in beautiful Stillwater, Minnesota, but Northern Vineyard Winery also allows you to enjoy some award-winning wine and scenic views of the St. Croix River and historic Lift Bridge. In operation since 1977, Northern Vineyard Winery is one of the oldest Minnesota wineries in operation.

Prairie Pond Vineyard & Winery—New Prague, Minnesota

Beautiful downtown New Prague hosts Prairie Pond Vineyard & Winery. Take a day to travel down scenic highway 19 through some of Minnesota’s most beautiful landscapes (especially in the Fall) to get to this special place.

Two Rivers Vineyard & Winery—Ramsey, Minnesota

Conveniently just outside the cities is Two Rivers Vineyard & Winery in Ramsey, Minnesota. Owner Mike Hedin has been making wine since 1988 after visiting another winery. Check out this hand wine pairing guide to match your favorite wine with the perfect dinner, or sign up for Silk Scarf Painting at Two Rivers on November 19th.

WineHaven Winery and Vineyard—Chisago City, Minnesota

Minutes outside of the Twin Cities, Winehaven is a 50-acre estate planted beautifully between three lakes – Lake Ellen, Green Lake, and Lake Martha – making for a distinctive grape that ripens later in the season than other Minnesota varieties. Winner of over 200 awards, Winehaven hosts many events, including the Cheese and Chocolate Weekend November 19th-20th.

Woodland Hill Winery—Delano, Minnesota

A little further outside the Twin Cities (but worth the trip) is Woodland Hill Winery. This winery is free of herbicides and uses only natural compounds and fertilizers to grow the grapes for their amazing wine. For just $6, you can taste a selection of featured wines in Woodland Hill’s tasting room or outside on the gazebo.
